Confidentiality

Our services are confidential as governed by the State of California. All counseling records are kept separate from all academic, administrative, disciplinary and medical records. No information about a student's contact with Counseling Services is released without the knowledge and written consent of the student. Exceptions to this rule occur only in the following circumstances:
We are mandated to report to the appropriate authority if:
A client presents a serious threat of violence to another
There is reasonable suspicion of child-, elder-, or adult dependent-abuse
We are ordered to release records by a court order
We are allowed to break confidentiality if:
A client presents a threat of harm to her/himself in order to protect their safety
